Sign in to Apple Music with your Apple ID and turn on iCloud Music Library

After you sign in to Apple Music with your Apple ID and turn on iCloud Music Library, you automatically have access to your music across all of your devices. You don't have to manually sync any of your music.
Your HomePod can access your Apple Music collection after you set up your device.

If you don't subscribe to Apple Music
- You can redownload your past purchases from the iTunes Store on your iOS device or computer. Even if you bought an item on your iPhone, you can redownload it on your Mac.
- You can manually sync the music on your iOS device with iTunes on your computer using a USB cable or over Wi-Fi. When you sync manually, your content copies from one device to another. For example, syncing your iPhone with your computer copies any selected music from iTunes on your computer to your device (if it's not already there). Your music collection stores locally on all of your devices and you can listen to it without being connected to Wi-Fi or the Internet.
What happens to the music you already had on your devices when you subscribe to Apple Music?
When you first subscribe to Apple Music, we identify the songs that are on your iOS device or computer and compare them to the Apple Music catalog.
- Songs that you bought from the iTunes Store are automatically available in your Apple Music library as long as you use the same Apple ID with Apple Music that you used to buy the music.
- If we have your version of a song in the Apple Music catalog, we make it instantly available to access on all of your devices as long as your subscription is active.
- If we can't match certain songs in your collection to songs in the Apple Music catalog, use iTunes on a Mac or PC to upload a copy to iCloud Music Library. After the upload, you can access it on all of your devices.
If you have music on your iOS device or computer from sources other than Apple Music or the iTunes Store
- You can have up to 100,000 songs in your music library. Songs that you buy or bought from the iTunes Store don't count against this limit.
- Only songs smaller than 200 MB or shorter than 2 hours are added to iCloud Music Library.
- We create AAC 256Kbps versions of songs that are encoded in ALAC, WAV, or AIFF formats and add the AAC version to iCloud Music Library. Your original music file remains untouched on your Mac or PC.
- We won't add songs to iCloud Music Library that are encoded in AAC or MP3 formats and don't meet certain quality criteria.
- You must authorize songs that contain Digital Rights Management (DRM) for playback on your Mac or PC before we can add them to iCloud Music Library.
Apple Music is not a backup service. Be sure to back up your iOS devices, and your Mac or PC, so that you have a copy of your music and other information if your device is ever replaced, lost, or damaged.
Voice Memos stored on your iOS device or in your iTunes Library on your Mac or PC don't upload to iCloud Music Library.
If you're missing or can't play music
- Make sure that you're signed in with the Apple ID and password that you use with Apple Music and to make purchases from the iTunes Store.
- Check to see if your Apple Music subscription is active.
- Check to see if the purchases are hidden, then unhide them.
